editor's NOTE

Tamara Weston“To Whom Much is Given, Much is Required ”

Thank you.   Thank you to everyone who helped to make our launch so very special.   We happily received and welcomed your comments, your submissions, and your feedback.   You welcomed us with open arms and we are grateful.    We acknowledge that we are still growing and we want to thank all the subscribers who have signed up to grow with us.

Soon after our launch in April, Don Imus caused a nationwide uproar when he referred to the players of the Rutgers University women's basketball team, the Scarlet Knights, as "nappy headed hos".   The world awaited the talented team's response to the insult that catapulted them into the spotlight.   But under the leadership of their coach, Vivian Stringer, the Scarlet Knights handled themselves in a manner that we as Black women can be very proud of. They exhibited poise, class and sophistication and they offered no words of retribution but words of encouragement.   Encouragement to young women across the world to be the best they can be in everything they do.   We couldn't have said it better.

We at Esteem want to thank the Scarlet Knights. Thank you for shining like the stars you are and exhibiting more class than Don Imus can ever hope to have.   Good Luck in your upcoming season.
